Central Oregon 2002

We had a fun weekend. The sunrise pictures were affected by smoke from the biggest fire year we've seen in Oregon. I would have more pictures except I didn't notice I had set the camera to take huge TIF pictures that ate all my memory card up.

Sunrise at Elkhorn Camp I. Sunrise at Elkhorn Camp II. Sunrise at Elkhorn Camp III. Lupines in front of Ponderosa Pine. A flower grows out of the slimy water.

An oasis between the desert and forest. A monkeyflower(?) blooms. A blurry waterborne flower. The parasitic Pine Drops feed on the surrounding trees. Indian Paintbrush

Looking north across the Crooked River drainage. The Maury Mt Agate Beds (we found a few). Katie and some sage brush etc.

Sky Pictures 2002

These pictures were taken as a thunderhead was passing by. E-mail me if you want a larger picture.

Cape Kiwanda 1998

In mid-December, I took a trip to Pacific City, Oregon USA. I stayed at a wonderful place called The Inn at Cape Kiwanda. Every person I met in the immediate area (the Pelican Brewpub, Migrations Books, and other places) made me feel like a friend. Thanks to Eric and Kate and Gregory and all of people on that block for a wonderful trip. I'll be back.

High waters on the Little Nestucca River. Sand whipping across a blown down sign. Sand catches air over a wind-sculpted dune. The sun sets behind this haystack near Cape Kiwanda. Cape Kiwanda is one of the few sandstone capes on the Oregon Coast.

Painted Hills 1998

These pictures are from a trip in mid-1998. They were taken between 6 and 7pm. The temperature was just under 100 deg. F. Shortly after this, I got a flat tire and had to drive home (250 miles) with the "cheater" tire.
